Šah za otroke 1 - Textbook
The Šah za otroke 1 textbook is a first-class piece of learning material aimed at absolute beginners. It is written in uppercase letters to make it accessible to the youngest of learners, as well as an excellent aide to teachers, chess mentors, and parents introducing their children to the royal game.
In the textbook, the author tackles the basics of chess, movement rules, attack, defense, and up to major piece mates. The topics are provided carefully, along with excercises for two players - an excellent option for mentors wishing to diversify the activities of their chess club.
The textbook is color-printed on quality paper.
Alongside the textbook, the author also released the Šah za otroke 1 workbook, which complememnts the textbook nicely. Together, the two form a unified whole and an excellent didactic tool. The textbook includes a layout for 33 meetings - one school year.
The author, Simona Polše Zupan leads the chess club at the Jakob Aljaž Primary School in Kranj. The school boasts an impressive number of players in local school chess competitions. Many of these aspiring chess players' first introduction to chess was by joining the club.
