The Dubrovnik chess set is based on a famed 1950 design, created for the 9th Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik. The pieces are renowned for their simplicity, ommiting the king's cross, as well as being easily identifiable and ergonomic.
This design was beloved by the legendary Chess World Champion Bobby Fischer. He publicly stated that Dubrovnik-style chess pieces were his favorite, and he often used them for his analysis and home games.
