These chess pieces have a rich history, reaching as far back as the 1950 Chess Olympiad in Dubrovnik. A key design of these chess pieces is their lack of religious iconography. Bobby Fischer stated on numerous occasions that these Dubrovnik chess pieces are his favourite.
